If you are 70 years of age and over, you are eligible for the Home Maintenance Tax Credit. I have to terminate my lease, how does it work?
The law of the Régie du Logement provides for an obligation for the tenant to give two months notice to the landlord when terminating the lease to go and live in a seniors' residence. The notice can be given in writing to the landlord two months before leaving or pay the two months notice (on the rent portion only) depending on the situation.
